CBD AND IMMUNE FUNCTION (2/10/2022)

An article in Reuters (1/25/2022) describes research into the immune-stimulating activity of CBD. Using SARS-CoV-2 infected cells, a team at the University of Chicago found that CBD did not prevent the virus from infecting cells but that it blocked the virus from copying itself. The scientists caution that the research was conducted in test tubes and with mice, and that the results cannot be assumed to be the same in humans without clinical studies. It is noteworthy that the researchers found that THC (the psychoactive component of marijuana) did not prevent the virus from replicating.
